Same-Sex ‘Marriage’ Vote in Disputed Senate Would be a Travesty
Gov. David Paterson has indicated that he will call another special session of the New York State Senate tomorrow and that the legalization of same-sex “marriage” would be one of the items on the agenda. NYS Catholic Conference Executive Director Richard E. Barnes made the following statement in response:
On Thursday, June 11, the Empire State Stem Cell Board, which is charged with overseeing $600 million in state taxpayer funds for stem cell research, is expected to recommend that state funds be paid to women who allow for the extraction of their eggs for research purposes. Pope Calls Priests to be Holy as he Opens Year for Priests
VATICAN CITY (CNS and Zenit) — Formally opening the Year for Priests, Pope Benedict XVI urged all priests to strive for holiness and said the ordained ministry was indispensable for the Church and the world.
“The Church needs priests who are holy, ministers who help the faithful experience the merciful love of the Lord and who are convinced witnesses of that love,” the pope said at a prayer service in St. Peter’s Basilica June 19.
